Galentine's Day

Happy Galentine's Day! February 13, is a day to celebrate the love of friendship. Galentine's Day originated on the TV show, Parks and Recreation, where Amy Poehler's character, Leslie Knope, gathers her girlfriends together for the ultimate girls' outing of the year...Galentine's Day brunch. If you haven't celebrated before, text a few of your girls to go out after work tonight for drinks, dinner, dessert, or opt for a cozy night-in.

I love giving presents for Galentine's and Valentine's Day. For years, I've been giving my friends, mom, and sister Valentine's presents. Although, Valentine's Day is traditionally for celebrating romantic love, I think it's a great excuse to celebrate all of the relationships that are important to you including your friends and family.  You don't have to spend a lot of money to brighten someone's week. You can opt for chocolates and delight a pal with pink champagne truffles or get her a darling jewelry box. Hopefully, her boyfriend/husband will be getting her a new piece of jewelry she can display it in.

If your not sure what to wear for Galentine's or Valentine's Day, I suggest this blush and white gingham coat for the colder weather. You can pair it with a pink or white dress and complete the look with these Marc Fisher heels. How beautiful is the glittered heel?

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

We had our first snow day in Virginia on December 8th. I woke up to a canvas of snow and every tree branch was glistening with a fresh dusting of snow. Even though I don't enjoy it being this cold out, the snow makes a beautiful landscape that is breath taking. These velvet pants are very warm for cold weather and if you need to add a base layer you can fit another layer comfortably underneath. I like these rain boots by J Crew because they look regular boots and are very polished. This baby blue coat is a fun way to add color into a winter wardrobe! Comment below and let me know what your go to items are for braving cold winter temperatures! Shop any of the items below by clicking on the pictures to be redirected to the company's website.

I'm channeling my inner Twiggy in this playful white lace bell sleeve top with black contrasting lace from Chic Wish. I played up the 1960's vibes by pairing this look with white shorts and edgy, black gladiator sandals. I usually gravitate towards black and white, I like the bold contrast of the two neutrals together.  This shirt has four types of lace which makes it that more interesting to look at. The white, circular lace on the upper arm is my favorite detail besides the adorable bell sleeves. Add a a pop of pink like this J. Crew cross body bag and pair with over sized cat eye sunnies for a fun weekend look. This is the first time I've shopped with Chic Wish and they have so many fashion forward clothes at adorable prices.  Check out more from Chic Wish by clicking on the button below. Let me know if you see something you like! What are your go to pieces during the summer months?

Easter Sunday

Easter is one of my favorite holidays from the spring colors, the blooming flowers, and all the candy. Let's talk about the candy. The brightly colored yellow, pink, and blue marshmallow peeps shaped into cute bunnies and chicks, the Cadbury egg with it's creamy, luscious center, and all of the jelly bean varieties especially the Starburst Sour Jelly Beans, yum! Besides the candy, all of the beautiful Easter dresses are flooding the stores. It's a time to refresh your wardrobe with soft, romantic pastels, floral prints, and vibrant hues. I love seeing what everyone is wearing Easter Sunday at church. This lace dress is conservative enough to wear again to work and fun for brunch with your girl friends on the weekend. This gorgeous lace A-line lace dress is from Banana Republic and you can shop it by clicking the gray box below; use code "Spring" to receive 40% off!

Most importantly Easter is a time to celebrate Jesus sacrificing his life so, that each of us wouldn't be separated from God by sin. Because Jesus died for us we are able to have a relationship with God and speak to him 24/7. In the old testament believers would have to offer sacrifices and go through a priest to pray to God. It is such a blessing that we can talk to God continuously through out the day! It's hard to believe Jesus would suffer and sacrifice for us and that shows how much he loves us. Reflecting on this makes me grateful. Easter doesn't end with Jesus' death on Good Friday he rises from the dead three days later which is the day we celebrate Easter. This shows that not even death can restrict God from reforming miracles! I wish you all the happiest of Easters and hope this encourages you knowing how much he loves us!

There are a plethora of clothes with shoulder details out for spring fashion. This trend has continued from Spring 2016 and the cold shoulder sweater was a top trend for Fall and Winter 2016.  The shoulder trend is bigger than ever with more options to choose from. The dress that I'm wearing is a cold-shoulder ruffle dress from Dillard's private label that they design, Gianni Bini. The flowing sleeves give this dress so much character.  Their are so many variations of the  off-the-shoulder and cold-shoulder trend that make me want each piece. The rompers with the ruffles, key hole cut-outs, and cold-shoulder detail are fun, flirty and ideal for the warmer weather coming. Some of the off-the-shoulder dresses have gorgeous bell sleeves. The off-the-shoulder trend is perfect for spring especially when you'll be soaking up sun outside!

Attention on the shoulders has been a continuous trend from last spring and it's carried over from fall to winter and will continue into Spring 2017. The long sleeves and light weight material make this cold shoulder top a piece than can transition through winter and spring.  The leopard clutch is by Clare V and I've had it for a few years and is worth the splurge. Pair a cold sweater top with dark denim (I love how soft Citizens of Humanity jeans are) and black peep toed pumps. I've linked everything in the slide show below including a pair of Christian Louboutin peep toes that fade from black to red and the red blends into the infamous red soles!

Happy New Year! Can you believe it's 2017! I spent New Year's Eve weekend in Lynchburg, Virginia. The downtown has an industrial feel and boarders the James River. Percival's Island Overlook and Island offers great views of the James River and is the perfect trail to walk after lunch or dinner downtown. The island is a mile and a half and has abandoned rail road tracks nodding to the city's industrial roots. After an afternoon stroll around Percival's Island head over a few blocks to Altus Chocolate at 908 Main Street to warm up with hot chocolate. The European sipping chocolate is rich, thick, decadent and delicious. If you opt for traditional hot chocolate you can add a flavored syrup such as Lavender if your feeling adventurous. The Chocolate Ganache Cake doesn't disappoint. Altus serves a variety of chocolate truffles, brownies, gelato, chocolate bars, and  chocolate fondue served with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, bananas, pound cake, and brownies. After indulging your sweet tooth walk a few blocks over to the Lynchburg Museum and explore the old Cathedrals' architecture and stain glass. After exploring downtown Lynchburg, if your in the mood for some shopping there is a J. Crew Clearance center with extremely discounted women's and men's merchandise. Liberty University owns Liberty Mountain Snow Flex Centre which offers snow boarding, skiing, snow tubing, and hiking trails. Lynchburg has a slower pace and small town charm that is relaxing and perfect for a short weekend get away. I'm already missing the chocolate from Altus but at least they offer their chocolates online!

I got off work early today and actually made it home when it was still light out so, Grant and I took a walk around the neighborhood and every one's Christmas decorations were still up! It felt like this Christmas season went by in a blink of an eye. There are so many things I wanted to do that I ran out of time for such as admiring Christmas Lights and decorations which I was able to do today. Although Christmas has past we have New Year's Eve to look foward to tomorrow so, we have another reason to celebrate soon enough! Break open the bubbly and pull out the confetti!

If your looking for a New Year's resolution I have the pefect solution that doesn't involve sweating at the gym or giving up dessert: build a warobe you love with classic, timeless pieces that will last for years to come. The iconic trench coat will always be a staple and a stylish choice. I've link a few trench coats in the slide show with different price points.
